Tryouts & Registration for 2008/2009

Kingsway United Soccer will be holding tryouts for the 20008/09 season (NJYS soccer year) for new teams April 6 & 13 from 4 - 6 pm, and on April 7th & 14th from 6 - 8 pm at Gibbstown's Nehaunsey School (see our directions.htm page) on Swedesboro-Gibbstown Road.  Team tryouts will be conducted in an open forum to be evaluated by coaches and paid trainers.

Registration is for the entire SOCCER YEAR - NOT JUST THE FALL Season - although the fees will be set at $180 for fall and $150 for spring (spring fee not due until February, 2009).  NJYS rules do not allow more than three (3) roster transfer moves per YEAR (although new players may be added anytime).  For this reason, teams formed for the fall will be expected to stay together for the spring as well, otherwise, it is not fair to teammates wishing to play both seasons.

Our fee structure is not etched in stone, but the final amount charged this year will NOT exceed that which is posted here.  Spring Registration may be less depending on the success of our fall fund-raisers and donations from businesses and philanthropists throughout the year.  KUS is a registered NJ non-profit Corporation, and money received from registrations, fund-raisers and donations is all spent on behalf of the membership.  Some seasons we invest in new uniforms, field or training equipment,  or soccer balls and professional training for our players, or help teams with tournament entry fees.  Whatever we take in, the membership gets back in one form or another.

The TRYOUT / REGISTRATION process will be conducted in two stages. Eight (8) separate items of documentation and payment are necessary to complete a full registration through the complete process. Only players selected through the tryout process need to complete all 8 items, but everyone needs to complete Items #1 and #2.  Some of these 8 items will be combined for returning players.  Required items and forms for each stage are as follows (select the forms and formats in the Procedural explanation that follows below this list):

Explanation of Registration / Tryout Fee / Refund Policy

At the conclusion of the tryouts, players selected for U9 - U16 teams will be listed here on this web site under respective age group rosters.  All players will be notified in writing by email on the outcome of the tryouts, or personally be one of the coaches.

• For players SELECTED to play on a KUS TEAM, the balance (Registration fee less any tryout fee or deposits already paid) of the player's registration fee of $180 for the 2008/2009 year, which includes only the cost for the Fall 2008 season, will be due.  $150 additional will be collected in February for the Spring 2009 outdoor season.  Dates will be set as official money due dates.  All money is due at that time, which will be close to within three days of the announced due date.  NO ROSTER POSITION IS GUARANTEED or SECURED until ALL REGISTRATION MONEY IS PAID IN FULL!  Only when paid in full is the roster spot granted to the registered player having been selected to the team.  Discretionary seasons, such as winter indoor or Futsal, are not covered by the fall or spring registration fees. They are chosen and costs incurred by each team that wishes to participate in extra seasons or sessions, and the coaches or a designated team parent will be in charge of securing those funds from the players. 

• For players NOT SELECTED to a KUS TEAM, the Tryout Fee (if taken) WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL (via cash or original check returned, or by KUS club check).

• For players that ARE SELECTED to play on a KUS TEAM but DECLINE TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION, the Tryout Fee (if taken) is forfeited in total. 

• For players that ARE SELECTED to play on a KUS team and have paid the $180 Registration fee in total, but decide not remain with the KUS team after it has been formed, the registration fee is not totally refundable and will be retained by KUS to cover any expenses incurred on behalf of the player.  Players having paid for their registration guaranteeing a secure roster spot have three days from the official due date to request a refund, just like in any contract purchase in the state of NJ.  In cases of unusual mitigating hardship or circumstance, a prorated amount may be refunded, and then only to a maximum of 80% of the registration fee.  All decisions on this refund will be determined by the Board of Administrators based on monies already spent on the player's behalf. 

• For SELECTED players who for disciplinary reasons, breech of the KUS Code of Conduct Agreement by themselves or their families, or for any other reason where their conduct is detrimental or harmful to their team or the KUS club, a player may be released from the team without refund of the registration fee. 

Stage 2 Procedure

Upon completion of the tryouts, players selected for rosters will then fill out the remainder of the KUS, NJYS and USSF registration forms: 

· USSF Medical Release form - USSF Medical Release Form  - or - in MS Word format;

· NJYS Player Membership form in PDF Format  - or -  in MS Word format;

· Kingsway United Soccer, CODE OF CONDUCT form in PDF Format  - or - in MS Word format.

Other necessary documentation will include:

· a 1" x 1" current 'head shot' picture of the registering player for use with the NJYS player pass;

· 1 copy of the registering player's birth certificate (existing players' birth certificates are already on file).

Soccer Age Definition Chart (click on link below for age reference) but add 1 YEAR to the " U " ages on the chart below to get accurate 2008/09 soccer ages.  They have not released next year's chart as of this edit.

Notes about the program.  The concepts for founding this organization include the following:  

· To provide an organization where serious and committed youth soccer players from the entire Kingsway Regional High School district area can participate in a program designed to best accommodate their particular needs;

· To promote a more competitive environment for the serious area player in which to learn and hone their skills through playing with similarly skilled and committed teammates at an elevated competition level;

· To better provide Kingsway Regional Middle and High Schools with competent players, many of whom are already familiar with one another and prepared to compete at the varsity level from having played together for one or more years before entering the school programs;

· To create a unified, regional rather than a local pool of potential players so that all levels of skill and commitment may one day be accommodated to a greater benefit and enjoyment by all.
